Dunolly Show

The day after Maryborough I headed off to Dunolly show with Julie and Molly. Julie did exceptionally well in her leds placing 4th in Led 15hh and under in HRCAV ring which there was plenty of good competition for her, then 1st in Led Standardbred and 2nd in Open Galloway 14.2hh to 15hh.So was very happy since she was been a bit clingy with Molly we didn't do our riddens. Then my friend daughter Tam took Molly in all her classes. They had a blast and came out with many ribbons that I don't remember which classes they where from. She did come 1st in Ridden Standardbred and 2nd in Led Standardbred.

Here are some photos from the day. Julie

Maryborough Show

Well we took Molly and Chippy to Maryborough Show. There where plenty of Standardbreds there and where stiff competition. Chippy was a dream to handle and placed 2nd in Open Stallion and then 1st in Led Standardbred Stallion. Molly worked nice for Gabby in the leds placing 3rd in Led mare and then I did the riddens on her we rushed in and it wasn't the best work she has done. She came 4th in Novice Ridden and 3rd in Ridden Mare.

Chippy Photos.

Grampians Combined Training and Showjumping Day

Grampians RC held a Combined Training and Showjumping day on Sunday 7th September. I took Molly down for the day. First up she had her dressage test she did so much better than in the past there is still a lot of room to improve but at least now she is doing much nicer. So we finished that on 60% score and went off quickly to do our showjumping round for it. She did a lovely clear round putting us in 3rd place overall.

Then we had her 2 offical showjumping rounds first one was AM3 where she went clear and then in her jump off went fairly fast and went clear but was beaten by under a second so came 2nd. Still a terrific job for her second outing of grade 3. Then in for her AM7 round did a nice clear round and then did the jump off well was going much quicker this time but unfortuantly coming over the last jump in the jump off we took a rail putting us in 2nd place. Mind you this pole didn't want to stay up for many riders.

TTT Horse Trials at Werribee Park

It was a very exciting weekend with 475 riders entered the biggest TTT event ever held. The Standardbred Riding Group was very proud to hav a tem entered. Let alone for all the riders do so well. Our team was made up of Jodie riding Molly, Kym riding Banjo, Dani riding Briah and Jenny riding Oscar. It was a very windy cold weekend but we all mad the most of it and where there to help it each other out the whole time.

Myself and Molly didn't have as good a dressage test as planned but never mind we went clear Showjumping and cross country which made up for it. still waiting to see where I came results where not finsihed when I left.

Jenny and Oscar did a nice dressage test then was doing well on cross country till she got to the later and he wouldn't go in. This was there first ever horse trials so they did a great job anyway.

Then Kym and Banjo it was there first event too after a lovely dressage test they went Clear Showjumping and clear cross country which was just fantastic anyway.

Dani and Briah did a lovely dressage test too and then went clear showjumping and cross country which was a fabulous effort as well.

Then Raelene was riding Rusty who was broken in and trained by us. She did a super dressage test and then one refusal showjumping as Raelene told me later she or got to breath and went dizzy. Then clear Cross country what a little champ he is.

Werribee Alan Mance Showjumping Series Final

Well Molly and myself headed off on a trip to werribee to finsih the Alan Mance Series off which she had been doing well in so far. This was her first grade 3 outing after pointing up at Bannockburn Teesdale Showjumping day. Went in for my first round the AM7 and was a little nervous at first once going had a blast. She did so well going clear and doing a lovely jump off we came out with 2nd out of 22 riders. Then with only 18 mins between rounds rushed to the second ring to do my 2 phase but been still puffed and trying to remember my new course I didn't do so well forgeting some of the good lines I was going to take putting us in 11th place with a clear round still just not fast enough.

Then we waited to see how I went in the series in the end came out with Reserve for Level 3 was absolutley stoked with the result as I knew it would be harder poitning up to grade 3 to do extremely well at it. I must say I think I was the entertainment for the day with my commentary of the course as I went round and must say a thank you to all those lovely people who cheered me and Molly onto victory it really helped. A big thanks also to my friend Gabby who took photos and pampered Molly all day and my parents and sister for been a big support crew for me. Also Tim for having all the horses feed and Molly stable ready when I came home late and in the dark to put her to bed.

Bannockburn & Teesdale Show & Showjumping Day

We took Molly and Stormy to Bannockburn & Teesdale Show and Showjumping day for the showjumping. We had an excellent day with some lovely people. Up first we had the AM 3 round which if you go clear you do a jump off at the end. Well Molly went in and did a lovely clear round and then did a super jump off with some very tight corners and good lines taken to put us in first. Then Tim and Stormy did there round and did an excellent job going clear and into the jump off but in the jump off Stormy knocked a rail which a few others did but came 7th just out from the placings.

Then our next round was Time fault and out which you have 60 secs to jump as many jumps as you can. Molly and myself did super going clear finsihed the first 9 jumps then got round up to jump 6 when the bell rang but just wasn't as fast as an other person putting us in second but still a super effort. Then Tim did his round and was going nicely but took a rail too early in the piece and missed out on placings but had improved a lot since last weekend.

Dunolly Showjumping June 2008

Dunolly Showjumping day is always a fun day to be at with lovely atmosphere of the people that run it. We took 3 horses this year Tim riding Stormy and Yamas who has come back to us. Then Jodie riding Molly. We had a wonderful day besides getting a little cold and wet making the grounds slightly slippery.

Molly went out and did a terrific job doing 3 clear rounds and placing in each section. In the Offical grade 4 AM7 she came 6th just was a little slow in the jump off as she thought she would think for me and started turning the wrong way and hesitated before turning the right way. Then into her Open grade 3 round to see how she would go again a nice clear round but as the rain had started and it had got a little slippery took it slow but was surprised to have come 2nd not many went clear. Then for my last Offical grade 4 round for the day 2 phase we came 5th as it was slippery just did a slow canter in the jump off. Putting us in 5th place which was still a brilliant effort.

Then Tim riding Stormy it was there first ever showjumping day or even competition as Tim has been concentrating on Clerking with Stormy and as Tim has been busy hadn't had time to practice jumping him leading up to it. Stormy did pretty good first round was a little bit demolision derby for the first 3 jumps then he got the idea and started jumping nicely. That was the Offical garde 4 AM7. Then in to doing his second rounf Offical grade 4 Phase 2  he did much better going clear till he came to jump 6 and smashed the pole into 2 pieces lucky he was the last for grade 4. Tim was very happy with the way Stormy went for his first outing.

Tim riding Yamas who we only got back 2 weeks ago as he had got to big for his new owner. He went into the grade 4 Open AM7 and did a good job considering the last time he was jumped was at this comp a year ago. He did a good job but unfortunatly took a few rails and put him out from placing as quite a big field. Then into his second round where he did Open grade 4 A2 which is a speed event. He knocked 2 rails and put him out but was jumping the jumps very nicely.

Ballarat & Smythesdale Horse Trials

On a cold and Foggy morning on Sunday 1st June I headed off to Ballarat and Smythesdale Horse Trials at least this competition isn't too far from home. Even though I didn't have the very first dressage test I was still warming up in the fog could barely see the other riders warming up when we first turned up. So off to do our dressage test and Molly was trying me even though we have started some dressage lessons and it has helped us improve Molly still didn't do that great a test but many commented she has got better so thats always a good sign. Coming 3rd last after dressage 2 got Elminated. We had a bit of a wait for our Showjumping and Cross country which was late afternoon. Went in for my showjumping did another clear fast round and had many people comment about it. Then last to do our Cross country now Woady Yallock grounds are far the most challenging with many jumps going down hill and at max height. Molly just soared over them all even when I thought she needed to slow up she only shortened her canter stride a little. As we came up to the water she didn't even slow to a trot and pushed past the horse that wouldn't go in. I was already with my crop but I never needed it must say I thought she was the best coming up the hill to the next few jumps. So went clear over the cross country and took a lot of time off optimum time where as many got time penality on course. I had the second fastest time and only by a little bit. So in the end we came 8th out of 28 riders which I was pretty stoked about. Now just to keeping working on my dressage and there will be no stopping us. So my wonderful Molly does it again for me.

Warming up for the dressage test in the freezing cold morning.

Flying round the cross country course.

Westcoast & Rokewood Horse Trials held at Elcho Park Lara

Molly and myself had a lovely weekend at Lara Horse Trials heading down the night before to be ready for our very early dressage test at 8.24am nice and early. After weather reports of hail and rain we had a cold but lovely blue skys. After having Molly saddles refitted the last week went to do the dressage test and something didn't feel right with Molly so I am guessing the saddle was not fitted correctly and we did the worst dressage test Molly has ever done. Then she was much happier when she was in her jumping saddle and did a lovely clear round even though we tried not to go as fast we can't help ourselves. Then on to the cross country where I was hoping she had over come her water fear it was the 3rd jump in. Came up over the hill onto it can't see it till you about hit it and she hesitated and then one hit with the crop trotted through it so i was delighted and went on to go clear cross country putting us in 9th overall out of 18 riders from 2nd last after dressage we worked our way up quite quickly.

Alan Mance Melton Showjumping Series

It was a fantastic day at Melton Showjumping. I took Molly along and had a fab time. Molly has changed so much in the time I have had here. She now goes out like she nows the job at hand stands round happily till we get in the ring and the bell has rung and off we go.

In the AM7 round which you do a clear round and then the jump off straight away if gone clear. We flew over the jumps nearly forgot where number 3 was but lucky Molly saved my butt when I saw it straight ahead and just went for it. Then on to the jump off we did the tighest corners I have ever seen her do and at such a top speed a few times I thought we may nearly hit wings with my legs but Molly had it all down pat. It was amazing the whoo hoo when I came out and people commenting what a great round it was. Molly really did the standardbred proud. Especially when the scores where posted and we had won the round by a second there where 27 people in it too. So I was pretty shocked to have done that well.

Then only 1/2 hour later we went in for the Table A2 this one is the fastest clear round wins. After waiting a while for the last person to hop out which kinda broke our consentration going in. We cantered over the first jump took a few great tight corners and over the last 4 really pushed the speed up as couldn't cut any corners there. In this round we went clear and came 4th out of the 27 riders. Now I don't have long till I am grade 3.

Smythesdale Dressage Day

On Sunday 27th January I took George and Molly along to the Smythesdale Dressage day. Poor George had only not long got off from working hard at the Ballarat Cup to then do a dressage test Sunday morning. This was George first ever outing he was just super did a lovely dressage test in Grade 5 and ended up coming equal 9th in his section.

Video Clip part of George Dressage test

Then Molly did her 2 test and even though Molly will never be a super star at dressage she has improved a lot and is still always so obedient for me. Molly eneded up coming 18th and 20th in her 2 dressage tests. At least with the EI looking like its over hopefully we can resume back to lots of competitions again and have this wonderful breed out on display.

Ballarat Pacing Cup

On Saturday 26th January Tim rode Stormy and Jodie on George lead out all the races at Ballarat with also leading the race winners back carrying flags. Stormy was super at it as he had already carried flag at Breeders crown. George was great after the first race where the flag flew around and got him in the head as we had wind and rain from all directions come down in a hurray. After that he was super and both proved how versatile the standardbred can be. Here are plenty of photos from the night.

TTT Nav Ride

Standardbred Riding Group sent 2 teams to TTT Nav ride which was held at Marong just outside of Bendigo this year. All 8 Standardbreds where so well behaved and we all had an excellent time. Team Hot to Trot came 15th overall out of 31 teams with Jodie on Molly Partner Mel on Gator, Kym on Banjo Partner Bec on Dolly. Then our second team the The Pace Setters came 21st out of 31 teams which included Michelle on Cooper Partner Peter on Kip and Cheryl on Jess Partner Jenny on Oscar. We where known as having the loudest cheer squad and the most helpers to encourage us along oour way. I think both our teams did a terrific job considering we weren't the best at answering cryptic clues along the way.

Redwood Races

Tim and myself went to the Redwood Races at Maryborough for this prestiage event we took Molly and Stormy (Tims new horse) along to lead the races out. It was great to show the race industry what they can work like after there racing days to now saddle horses. Also it was great for the old owners and trainers that used to have these horses to see them in action.

Leading the race winner back.

Bendigo ARC Showjumping Day
Molly went to Bendigo ARC Showjumping day and had a great day. We first went in AM7 and went clear in the first round then went on to the jump off and went clear and pretty fast so we ended up coming 6th. Then we had Table C which is the fastest round wins this was on grass which Molly seems to prefer and went clear and quite fast round this one and ended up coming 4th overall. Then we had AM3 which is everyone goes clear then does the jump off at the end well Molly knocked one rail so it put us out for this one. I was so proud of Molly she did super for our first proper showjumping day and around so very tight courses too and against over 20 riders.

TTT Horse Trials

The Standardbred Riding Group sent a team of Standardbreds to TTT Horse Trials which consisted of Jodie on Miss Molly, Tim on Full of Jewels, Dani on Briah and Clinton on Boyo. We all had our dressage on the Saturday and each did well for our own standards. Tim diffently leaving us in awe of Julie preformance after dressage putting them in 15th place out of 30 riders.

Then on Sunday we had the cross country up first with the whole team going clear and no time penaltys with most of us been in the top 3 fastest times for our sections which was a great effort since Molly was the only one to have done horse trials before.

Later we had the Showjumping where it had become quite slippery and hard to ride. We all went clear besides Dani and Briah who got a knock down and one refusal. So after that we where all happy with our places with Dani coming 17th then Clinton coming 13th then me and Molly at 12th and Tim shocked us all with getting 7th. Then in whole our team came 35th out of 74 teams which was a pretty good effort for our first TTT event representing SRG.

SPPHAV State Dressage and Showjumping

Well Molly and Julie headed off on the long trip to croydan to do the SPPHAV state dressage and showjumping. So Stacie took Julie in the Novice test and did a great job for there first ever dressage test for both horse and rider. Julie was so calm and relaxed for Stacie.

Then Molly did her dressage test and well it was't the best she has done but she really just wanted the showjumping to start.

Then for the showjumping the best part of the day. Julie and Tim went round but came unstuck at one of the jumps so ended up coming 6th. Then Molly and me went in and did a lovely round but did knock 2 poles so that put us in 5th place.

Molly at Bendigo ARC Show

Molly went to Bendigo ARC Show in the HRCAV ring and the open ring they held. We ended up coming 3rd in the open ring in large galloway class. The HRCAV ring had so many riders in grade 4 it was hard to be noticed agaisnt the hard competition. Molly looked stunning and was very well behaved.

Molly at Rokewood/Westcoast Horse Trials at Elcho Park

Well Molly went to her second horse trials at Elcho Park. She pulled off her best dressage test so far and then went on to do a lovely round of showjumping only knocking one rail which is a first for Molly anyway. Then on to the cross country where we where doing a lovely clear round till we came to the water jump and Molly didn't want to get her feet wet so after many tries we gave up and finished the rest of the course with no dramas. We had loads of fun anyway.

Miss Molly first Horse Trials

Well I had an extremely fantastic day with Molly. We went to Glenlyon Horse Trials where it was Molly first go at horse trials and I have never been clear cross country ever. With Molly like usal she does so much for my confidence we pulled off a half ok dressage test wasn't sure about the rope for the arena but she can improve there I am sure. Then went in for showjumping and the nerves hit me just before entering and needed Tim to tell me to get over it and once we jumped the first jump I realised how much fun it was with Molly and went clear and even did some nice tight turns onto jumps giving us the 2nd fastest time for the day. Then for the dreaded cross country feeling a bit better after my showjumping we went in for the count down and off we went and cleared all the jumps she hasn't even seen many cross country jumps let alone ditches and solid jumps. After going clear we then waited for the scores and to my surprise we had come 4th overall out of 15 riders that had turned up. So for me to have never gone clear cross country to placing at a horse trials was a huge achievement for me and I am so proud of Molly getting me there. Since I was riding for the Standardbred Riding Group everyone wanted to know how the only standy out competing went and I was as proud as punch for people to see what they can do just to think this is only 4 months under saddle so now I need to set new goals to achieve since Molly seems to fill all the ones I do have.

Dunolly Showjumping Day

Molly went to Dunolly showjumping and was such a a little gem. My friend Lee rode her and did so well since she is a nervous rider and molly just popped over all the jumps like she has been doing it for years. In the first round they went clear besides Lee forgeting a jump then the second one she went clear and got 5th Lee was so excited about placing against so hard competition and all the jumps where scary flash boards. So here is a video of her second round.
