Top Ten Showjumping

Top Ten Showjumping Award

In under the 2 years I have owned Molly we have been sucessful in whatever we have tried. In Molly's mind showjumping is her faviroute. From day one Molly loved jumping and showed great technique for it. Even though she is only on the smaller side of 14.3hh she can clear some pretty big jumps. So over the past year we have really got our showjumping coming along well to the point where Molly knows that as soon as a jump off starts her speed increases again on what already is fast.

We have been placing at some very big competitions even with up to 30 riders in her sections. One of the high lights from her career would have to be coming Reserve in the Alan Mance Series. The end of the series was her first round of grade 3 after pointing up the weekend before. There where some good horses there too. Molly just took it all in her stride myself a little nervous first time over the bigger jumps and once we went clear and into the jump off I could hear many competitiors screaming out GO MOLLY GO MOLLY wanting us to succeed which we did coming second was a great achievemnt. I think many people love watching myself and Molly and have really helped change people minds about Standardbreds. She can spin on a dime and then jump decent size jumps 1 stride out. Maybe the entertainment value of me chatting away telling Molly how the course is going to ride and egging her on in the jump off. I must say that Molly thrives on it and when I have not talked as much we haven't done as we.

So after a very successful year of showjumping in HRCAV comps we received a letter to let us know that myself and Molly have actually come in the Top Ten Showjumping award which is very prestiage award I have never archieved anything like this before in all my conpetivie riding. So for those that don't know muh about the HRCAV this award is over the year of competing and is given to those with the most placings over the year for the best 10 horse and riders in each dicsplines. To my knowledge a Standardbred has never won this award. So I am very pleased that myself and Molly have done this and along the way proved to a lot of people that snigger about Standardbreds been competed well I just go out to prove them all wrong and just love it when that person realises that the Standardbred won it.

For all those out there riding Standys and you think you can't do it get out and give it a try for me if it wasn't for Molly I properly would have given up jumping after losing most of my confidence on other breeds. They are the most trusty mounts I have ever ridden.
